Locations of Activities:
The “Rise of the National Style” Symposium is scheduled for September 12-14 2014. All activities and Concerts will take place in Rockwell Hall in the The Louis P. Ciminelli Recital Hall and the adjacent general-purpose classrooms 302 through 310. All events will be free to Buffalo State students and faculty.

Friday September 12, 2014:
- Title: Roundtable Forum and Symposium
- Date and Time: September 12, 2014 4:00pm – 6:00pm
- Location: The Louis P. Ciminelli Recital Hall
- Presenters: Roland Dyens, Gaelle Solal, Nicolas Goluses, James Piorkoski, and more
- Description: This Roundtable Forum and Symposium will be a group discussion with a mediator. The Mediator will present questions that are relevant to the issues regarding the inclusion of nationalistic music and how historical influences play a role in the continuing creation of new art forms. The last 30 minutes will be dedicated to a question and answer from the audience where attendees can address the panel with individual questions that they may have about subjects covered during the roundtable.

- Date and Time: September 12, 2014, 7:30pm – 9:00pm
- Location: The Louis P. Ciminelli Recital Hall
- Presenters: The Alonso Drummond Duo and Nicholas Goluses
- Description: This concert will be a program of solo classical guitar as well as piano and guitar duo arrangements. This concert is designed to showcase not only the talents of these international artists but also serves as a perfect forum to showcase the musical aspects of subjects covered in previous roundtable. The programming for this concert will consist primarily of a wide range of arrangements from many different genres and counties i.e. Spanish, Cuban, German, french, Brazilian, and other countries.

- Title: Great Lakes Guitar Society (GLGS) Collegiate Competition
- Date and Time: April 12, 10:30pm – 2:00pm
- Location: The Louis P. Ciminelli Recital Hall
- Presenters: The Great Lakes Guitar Society (GLGS)
- Description: The GLGS will fund, run, and operate a performance based competition. It is designed to bring competitors from all over the country to Buffalo State campus to compete for concerts and prizes.
- Title: Masterclass
- Date and Time: April 12, 10:30pm – 12:30pm
- Location: Rockwell Hall, General Purpose Classroom 302, 304, 305, and 307
- Presenters: Roland Dyens, Gaelle Solal, Nicolas Goluses
- Description: GLGS Buffalo Chapter in conjunction with the Buffalo State Guitar Club will present public Masterclass featuring the teaching of Roland Dyens, Gaelle Solal, and Nicolas Goluses These artists will teach a free to the public class where guitarists will receive a 20-30 minute lesson. The last 20 minutes of the masterclass will be an open forum where auditors can ask questions directly to the presenters. The GLGS Buffalo Chapter and Guitar Club executive board will audition performers for each class two weeks before the event.
- Title: Seconda Prattica International Arranging Competition (S.P.I.A.C)
- Date and Time: April 12, 3:00pm – 4:45pm
- Location: The Louis P. Ciminelli Recital Hall
- Presenters: Seconda Prattica LLC
- Description: The Music Publisher Seconda Prattica is sponsoring an International Arrangement Competition where 9 scores will be selected from online submissions to the publisher. The selected scores will be performed in a live concert and awarded prizes. This concert and final round will be free to Buffalo State students and faculty. During the concert, the audience members will be asked to vote and the scores from the audience will be combined with judges scores to help pick the winners.

- Title: Buffalo Sate Guitar Club Amateur Guitar Competition
- Date and Time: April 13, 10:00am – 12:30pm
- Location: The Louis P. Ciminelli Recital Hall
- Presenters: Buffalo State Guitar Club
- Description: This competitions aim is to allow Buffalo State College Students the opportunity to compete for prizes as well as receive verbal and electronic assessments of their playing from three prominent industry leaders. The competitors will have up to 5 minutes to play there works and the judges will give them on the spot feedback about their playing. The competitors will also receive an electronic version of their critic via email. The Judges will consist of 3 prominent buffalo music professionals that own flourish local music stores and play in and around the Buffalo Area.

- Description: The finals of the collegiate competition where 3 finalists will compete in a public showcase where prizes sponsored by the Great Lakes Guitar Society will be awarded.

- Date and Time: September 14th, 3:00pm – 5:00pm
- Location: The Louis P. Ciminelli Recital Hall
- Presenters: James Piorkowski and Meyer-Thachuk Duo
- Description: In this final concert of the festival, the Meyer-Thachuk Duo and James Piorkowski will present a program of solo classical guitar that will take audience members through a tour of the world as Maestro Piorkowski enlightens and dazzles them with his own arrangements and compositions.
